Dr. Russell Baer was a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Chicago where he taught implant dentistry in the General Practice Residency and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics program and conducted clinical research in implantology and reconstructive dentistry. Dr. Baer is an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration and the International Congress of Oral Implantology. He has written numerous articles and lectured both nationally and internationally on implant dentistry. His passion of implant dentistry led him to the former Soviet Union, where he founded and serves as Academic Director of the Chicago Center for Advanced Dentistry. The center is the leading training center for oral implantology and advanced dental
techniques in the former Soviet Union, with offices in Moscow, Kiev, Vilnius, Almaty and Mumbai India. Through this program many American dentists have had the opportunity to teach and practice implant dentistry in this region of the world. Dr. Baer continues mentoring and educating general dentists on implantology at our UAD location.
COURSE OUTLINE
Friday, July 24, 2009:
An overview of bone grafting techniques through lecture and hands-on models and materials, where participants will learn about:
- Atraumatic Extractions.
- Grafting materials.
- Socket Preservation, when to use membranes.
- Extraction/implant placement with graft.
- The closed sinus lift: Manual and Piezo surgery techniques.
- The open sinus lift: State of the art.
- Ridge splitting: 1 stage and 2 stage.
- Particulate grafting with membranes.
- Block grafting.
