Why Laser Treatment:
Laser therapy can help improve the precision of treatment needed while minimizing pain and recovery time. It’s amazing that only 5% of all the dentists have lasers available in their offices.

UAD does and we find it invaluable for many reasons:

• Certain laser procedures do not require anesthesia.
• Laser dentistry minimizes bleeding because the high-energy light beam aids in the clotting of exposed blood vessels.
• Bacterial infections are minimized as the beam sterilizes the area being worked on.
• Damage to surrounding tissue is minimized.
• Tissue can be regenerated and wounds heal faster with laser treatment.
• Procedures may not require sutures when laser treatment is used.

Hard and Soft Tissue Lasers:
A wide variety of lasers are used to diagnose, assist and perform various dental procedures. Generally, there are two categories of lasers; hard tissue and soft tissue.

• Hard Tissue Lasers — are used to precisely cut into bone and teeth which is used for removal of small amounts of tooth structure, repair certain worn fillings and prep teeth for bonding.
• Soft Tissue Lasers — penetrates soft tissue while sealing blood vessels and nerve endings. There is minimal pain following the use of laser and the tissue heals faster. Soft tissue laser treatment is often used in conjunction with periodontal treatment by the hygienist. This also aids in killing the bacteria associated with periodontal disease.

Procedures of Laser Treatment:

• Benign tumors can be removed painlessly and suture free from the gums, palate, cheeks and lips.
• Cold Sores — when treated with laser dentistry reduces pain and minimizes healing time.
• Crown lengthening — lasers can reshape gum tissue and bone to expose tooth structure, providing a stronger foundation for restoration.
• Lasers may be used for the painless and suture free removal of soft tissue folds often caused by ill-fitting dentures.
• TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Treatment) — may be used to quickly reduce pain and inflammation of the temporomandibular jaw joint.
• Nerve Regeneration — used to regenerate damaged nerves, blood vessels and scars.
• Tooth Sensitivity — may be used to seal tubules (located on the root of teeth) that can cause hot and cold tooth sensitivity.
• Gummy Smile — maybe used to reshape gum tissue to expose healthy tooth structure and improve the appearance of a gummy smile.
