Specialty Residency & Fellowship
After graduating magna cum laude honors from the University of Illinois in both his undergraduate studies in Chemistry as well as his dental school training in Chicago, Dr. Schelkopf completed a 3-year specialty residency in Prosthodontics, gaining a comprehensive understanding of specialty reconstructive & surgical care. He then completed a 1-year Straumann-supported surgical fellowship in Implant dentistry to complete his formal academic training.
Faculty Appointment
He obtained board-certification as a specialist and a diplomat of the American Board of Prosthodontics, which is recognized as the highest achievement in the field. He currently maintains a faculty appointment in the specialty department of Prosthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago and provides educational courses to colleagues from all over the United States.
Private Practice
Following his formal training, he has maintained his private practice as a specialist for almost 10 years, managing thousands of aesthetic and reconstructive cases, providing life-changing outcomes to countless happy patients from all over the world. It is this academic education, training, and experience that helped create the foundation for the quality care that he provides to all of his patients today.

Why do our cases look different? It’s important to understand how hands-on Dr. Schelkopf is throughout the entirety of each case he manages. He personally designs all of his own cases to make sure that every design embodies his style with natural form and fit to the patient’s tissues and presentation. This hands-on control is what ensures that every detail, every little nuance, is carefully crafted to achieve results that look natural, elegant, and seamless. No part of the process is “stock” or “cookie-cutter.” His work is personally-tailored to the individual from the beginning so that it looks and fits exceptionally… that’s what sets his results apart.
Every case starts with a personal consultation with Dr. Schelkopf where he will evaluate the case to develop a vision for what would look best, personally designing that case, and bringing that vision and design into reality on the clinical side. Additionally, the close cooperation with his master ceramist Hojin allows for a unified vision and consistent workflow, delivering results that exceed expectations on each and every case.”

He maintains close control of his dentistry by developing his own vision for a case and bringing that vision to life through a careful and precise clinical process that has been fine-tuned by thousands of cases. Our consistent and unique workflow is what allows patients to travel in from all over the United States, as well as internationally, for their new smile. In 2025 alone, Dr. Schelkopf and his ceramist provided care to patients from 42 different states and 6 different countries. With his clinical acuity and particular management of the process, the process is seamless, consistent, and complete in just a couple visits.
