Dr. Baer is not only shifting the dental industry, he’s changing the world every time a patient sits down in his chair.
With three decades of service, Dr. Baer is a teacher, researcher, lecturer, and practitioner with a focus in dental implantology and reconstructive dentistry. He earned a BS in biology and MS is physiology from Drake University, and completed a doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then did a 2-year residency in Hospital Dentistry at the University of Chicago where he stayed on with the University of Chicago for the next 20 years as Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery. In his position he conducted clinical research on cutting edge techniques in implant dentistry and instructed implant dentistry in the maxillo-facial prosthetic fellowship. He also took to the podium at the University of Illinois as an assistant professor of oral medicine. Dr. Baer and Dr. Marcus founded UAD in 1987 as the University Of Chicago’s faculty practice.
Dr. Baer has been called to share his expertise and practices beyond the borders of the city and country. He traveled around the world to discover new techniques and train clinicians on the research he conducted. During a lecture in Moscow, Dr. Baer saw an opportunity to be a global dental pioneer, and he founded a Russian center for clinical research and education. The Chicago Center for Advanced Dentistry is now in its 21st year of operation and is a major provider of advanced care and education in the region. Back in the UAD offices, Dr. Baer mentors doctors and educates students on implantology through courses and video streams, and travels regularly teaching in the US and abroad.
An active member of the Academy of Osseointegration and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Dr. Baer is widely published in dental and medical journals and is also a frequent lecturer at international conferences and universities. The Chicago Tribune has named Dr. Baer a Top Dentist for the past three years.
